New But Aged Tires Can Be Dangerous
In 2007, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) stated in a report to the U.S. Congress that “tire aging is a serious safety issue,” but up to now the agency has not — or rather, does not — want to warn consumers about the issue.
In its report to Congress, the NHTSA cited insurance statistics obtained from several states. The data indicated that 84 percent of tire-related insurance claims involved tires that were at least 6 years old.
Automobile manufacturers also know about the hazards of aged tires. Auto companies (including Ford, Chrysler, BMW, VW/Audi and Toyota) have issued recommendations of 6 years on tires. These warnings can be found in the manuals distributed to car owners.
Acting on the results of its independent research, the Ford Motor Company formally requested the NHTSA to impose a 6-year shelf life on tires. The company cited comprehensive research data that could be fully defended by statistical analysis. The NHTSA rejected that request. NHTSA considers “sufficient” a 10-year shelf life for tires recently issued by tire manufacturers.
The NHTSA also turned down a 2004 request by a tire safety research group for the issuance of an advisory that would warn about the risks associated with aged tires. The NHTSA preferred to focus on the issue of tire maintenance in general and did not want to single out a particular tire problem — e.g. aging — in isolation.
Auto safety experts express disappointment over the NHTSA stand. In effect, the NHTSA acknowledges there is a safety problem but they will not tell consumers about it.
Tire safety researchers have pointed out in various studies that as tires age they tend to become dry and brittle, and this can lead to the treads separating from the tires. The results of tread separation can be catastrophic when it occurs in cars traveling at highway speeds.
One research firm has tracked 167 auto crashes that it says were caused by aged tires, resulting in 192 injuries and 139 deaths. The firm says that old tires — although they may look perfectly brand new — are like ticking time bombs because you don’t know whether and when tread separation will occur.
Tires deteriorate with age even if they have never been used or have remained in a store’s inventory shelves. The problem cannot be detected by visual inspection or by looking at the depth of the treads.
The British Rubber Manufacturers Association issued a statement in 2001 which strongly recommended that tires over 6 years old should not be used.
The U.S. Rubber Manufacturers Association (whose membership is similar to the UK association) does not plan to make a similar statement.
Consumers will have to do their own checking. How does a consumer know the age of the tire?
* Look for the DOT number on your car’s tires. It is a long series of numbers, usually found on the inside of the tire, not the outside.
* Look at the last 3 or 4 numbers. Suppose it says 359. This means your tire was manufactured on the 35th week of 1999 (although it could also refer to 1989). It implies your tire is at least 9 years old.
Suppose it says 1506. It means the tire was produced on the 15th week of 2006, and is only 2 years old.

Really nice job,There are many people searching about that now they will find enough sources by your tips.
Also looking forward for more tips about that
I've been in the tire industry for quite some time now,
check the serial numbers of the tire, some may have 4 digits only,
some may have 10,
but the important thing to notice is the last 4 digits or the only 4 digits of the number
example,
0207 - 2nd week of 2007
0309 - 3rd week of 2009
0410 - 4th week of 2010
i hope this helps.
cheers!

Some studies have even shown that enteric-coated enzyme powder may make a supplement less effective. In a series of third-party tests, products containing enteric-coated serrapeptase powder lost more activity than supplements using non-enteric-coated serrapeptase powder.

tires plays a vital role.If it has a good quality of tire then the risk is minimized.

There are many causes of accidents on the road. Driving under the influence of alcohol is one of them. It is an extremely deadly act. Alcohol impairs the decision-making ability of brain. Drinking and driving is an offence which when turned into serious problem.
I suppose you made various good points in features also.
