September 11 Says - Think Safety!
Today we commemorate the anniversary of the worst attack to take place on American soil. On September 11, 2001 terrorists attacked us from our skies.
They took over planes and crashed them deliberately into the World Trade Towers; right at working time when they were full of people. Next the terrorists crashed a plane into the Pentagon and finally Flight 97 was overrun with passengers who had been alerted to the prior tragedies and purposefully crashed the plane into Pennsylvania soil; saving a potential attack on the White House. All on board the plane were killed.
All in all, on that fateful day we remember today, over 3000 people were killed. Yes, over 3000. That is an extremely high number and reflects the frailty of human life.
Today, candidates Barack Obama and John McCain put aside their differences and mud slinging of politics and took part in a ground zero commemorate service. They both continued to offer their condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives on that fateful day. They both offered promises of a safer future for all Americans. They both did their best to honor a day that deserves to be honored.
When we look back on the attacks that took place on September 11th of 2001 and ask ourselves could we have prevented it, I dare not even attempt to answer that question. But there are safety measures that we can take on a daily basis to help in preventing ourselves from becoming a victim of attacks.
* We can make sure and arm ourselves with communication equipment.
* We can do the simple things such as being aware of our surroundings.
* We can make sure and have safety and first aid equipment on hand in the event of an occurrence.
* But most of all we must just trust in our government to keep us safe from such catastrophic attacks.
The upcoming election is critically important to this country and our safety. We at safety issues encourage you to get out and vote this year and to always be aware of your safety.
