Lagging Training?

In a survey of 100 name brand organizations in the United States conducted in 2Q03, respondents were asked if their organization has an information systems and network security plan in place. While 73% reported that there was an information systems and network security plan in place, 7% reported that there was not a plan, and 17% reported that the plan was in the development stages. Respondents were also asked if employees have been trained on the IS security plan. Table 1 shows the reported status of IS security training.

In a related question, respondents were asked if their organization has a computer incident response plan in place. Only 53% reported that there was an incident response plan in place, 20% reported there was not a plan in place, and 16% reported that the computer incident response plan was being developed. The remaining 11% were not of the status of the plan. Once again, respondents were also asked if employees have been trained on the computer incident response plan. Table 2 shows the reported status of incident response training. Table 3 shows the status of training on anti-virus measures and what employees should do if they believe a virus has hit their computer system.
