The law requires child car seats to be used for children. Remember that • A
rear-facing seat is needed for children weighing below 9 kg/20lb.
• A forward-facing seat is required for children between 9 and 18 kg/20 to 40 lb.
• A booster seat is needed for children weighing 18 to 36 kg/40-80 lb.
Make sure the car seats are properly installed. Tighten the seatbelt and harness, and use a tether strap when it is needed. Car seat clinics have indicated that up to 80 percent of car seats are not installed properly.
